2013 Dance goals

Happy new years! (Almost.) I have some goals for my dancing. My goal is to be able to do the splits. How I'm going to (try) to achieve this goal is stretching for five minutes every day. And using the counter too act like a ballet barre and stretch my legs.

Do you have any Dance goals? Do you have any other goals?

Happy 2013!

Love,
Meg

The beauty of dance

Hello! Sorry for not posting before I was busy. Today I'm going to post a poem called the beauty of dance I submitted to Emma Kate's magazine: girls with a purpose. To submit or subscribe for it click her!
Here it is!

The beauty of dance
By Meg B.

I love to prance and dance,

And whirl and swirl,

As I practice and practice I get that feeling,

The feeling of dance,

The beautiful, happy feeling of dance

It may seem hard,

Like you just can’t do it

But if you keep trying you truly can!

Then you go on stage

As you leap across the floor,

Then end in a curtsy!

As everyone claps,

You feel that feeling, that true beautiful

The beauty of dance!

Do you like it?

Dream, live and dance on!

~Dance~ {Week one}

Hello! This week I'll be telling you about good music for dancing to. From ballet to hip hop!

First we'll talk about:

Counttry or calm classic music is good for ballet

EXAMPLES:
  • Today was a fairy tale by Taylor Swift
  • Arms by Christina Perri
  • Ordinary day by Vanessa Carlton
  • Enchanted by Taylor Swift
  • Eyes open by Taylor Swift
  • Jar of hearts by Christina Perri
  • Breathe Anna Nalick
  • Classic pieces like; Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, etc.
Hip Hop!

Pop songs are best for hip hop.

EXAMPLES:
  • TTYLXOX/Something to dance for mashup
  • I knew you were trouble by Taylor Swift (when she says "now I'm lying on the cold hard ground". Fall onto the ground then slowly pull yourself up as she say "oh, oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble".)
  • Firework by Katy Perry
  • Shake it up theme song by Selena Gomez (when she says, "bring the lights up" put your arms on your side and slowly raise them to your head. When she says, "bust the doors down" Bring your arms all the way to the floor.)
  • Love you like a love song by Selena Gomez
  • Tell me something I don't know by Selena Gomez
  • Give your heart a brake by Demi Lavoto

Ballet
and
Hip hop
Mix songs!

These are the songs that have a mix of genres.

EXAMPLES:
  • You're not sorry by Taylor Swift (Chorus will be hip hop. The begining and other parts are more sad. They will be ballet)
  • We are never getting back together by Taylor Swift (All of the song except for the part when she says, "I used to say that we are forever ever, and I used to say never say never..." is hip hop. The part above is ballet.
  • Red by Taylor Swift (The only part that is hip hop is when she says, Loving him was red, r-r-r-red.)
I hoped you enjoyed Dance today! See you soon for Fashion!

Wow! I've made it through a whole week! Welcome to our second Magical Monday! Today's Magic creature is...

Mermaid!!!
~   ~   ~   ~  ~   ~   ~   ~   ~   ~   ~   ~  ~  ~
Today's Mermaid book is...

The tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler!

Book review (not written by me)

A young girl learns she’s half mermaid and plunges into a scheme to reunite with her father in this entrancing, satisfying tale that beckons readers far below the waves.
For as long as she can remember, twelve-year-old Emily Windsnap has lived on a boat. And, oddly enough, for just as long, her mother has seemed anxious to keep Emily away from the water. But when Mom finally agrees to let her take swimming lessons, Emily makes a startling discovery — about her own identity, the mysterious father she’s never met, and the thrilling possibilities and perils shimmering deep below the water’s surface. With a sure sense of suspense and richly imaginative details, first-time author Liz Kessler lures us into a glorious undersea world where mermaids study shipwrecks at school and Neptune rules with an iron trident — an enchanting fantasy about family secrets, loyal friendship, and the convention-defying power of love.

Today's Mermaid TV/Movie

H2O Just Add Water.png
H2O: Just add water

TV/Movie review (not by me):

Cleo Sertori, Emma Gilbert, and Rikki Chadwick are three fifteen-year-old Australian girls who find themselves stranded on the mysterious Mako Island. They eventually find themselves in a pool under a dormant volcano just as a full moon appears overhead, bathing the pool in light. The girls are rescued and return to "normal life", but soon discover their lives have become anything but normal: seconds after contact with water, they transform into mermaids with supernatural powers over water. The trio enlist the help of Cleo's friend Lewis McCartney, who attempts to discover the secret behind their transformations.
Everyday situations, such as bathing and rain, become tricky as the girls struggle to cope with their newfound abilities, which have many advantages and disadvantages, while also trying to keep them a secret from everyone else, including their families. They soon adapt to their new abilities and lifestyles, including new rivalries.

I hope you enjoyed reading Magical Monday!

Song Saturday 1!

Hello blog reader! Welcome to our first Song Saturday! Today's song is...

You belong with me by Taylor Swift

You're on the phone
with your girlfriend ‒ she's upset
She's going off
about something that you said
'cause she doesn't get your humor like I do.
I'm in my room ‒ it's a typical Tuesday night.
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.
She'll never know your story like I do.

But she wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see
That I'm the one
Who understands you
Been here all along
So why can't you see
you belong with me,
You belong with me?

Walking the streets
With you and your worn out jeans
I can't help thinking
This is how it ought to be.
Laughing on a park bench
Thinking to myself
"Hey, isn't this easy?"

And you've got a smile
That could light up this whole town.
I haven't seen it in awhile
Since she brought you down.
You say you're fine -
I know you better than that.
Hey, what you doing
With a girl like that?

She wears high heels,
I wear sneakers.
She's cheer captain,
And I'm on the bleachers.
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
that what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see
That I'm the one
Who understands you
Been here all along
So why can't you see
you belong with me?
Standing by you
Waiting at your backdoor.
All this time
How could you not know, baby
You belong with me,
You belong with me?

[Instrumental]

Oh, I remember you were driving to my house
In the middle of the night.
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're about to cry.
I know your favorite songs,
And you tell me about your dreams.
Think I know where you belong,
Think I know it's with me.

Can't you see
That I'm the one
Who understands you?
Been here all along
So why can't you see
You belong with me?
Standing by you
Waiting at your backdoor.
All this time
How could you not know, baby,
You belong with me,
You belong with me?

You belong with me.

Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me?
You belong with me.
